Instructions on how to install a rear window
I kwow this has been discussed to death but I can't get the search to work on this site.
Can anyone give me some links to previous discussions about this? I've never done the gasket type before. Thanks, Bob

Re: Instructions on how to install a rear window
Is the glass already out? Lay the new glass on something flat (and padded) Install the gasket around the glass, take a piece of 1/4" or 5/16" rope and lay it in the groove all the way around the gasket so that both ends meet in the middle at the bottom. Tape the ends to the glass so the rope doesn't fall out. Then have somebody hold the glass up to the opening from the outside, set the bottom lip of the gasket in first and start pulling on the rope. As you pull the rope it will lip the gasket over the flange ,Pull both ends of the rope evenly, first one side a little ways, then the other side an equal amount till you get all the way around. I installed mine by myself,I held the glass up with tape and reached around to hold pressure on the glass as I pulled on the rope with the other hand

Thanks 69lemans.
I don't have the glass out yet but will for some rust repair. Your instructions sound good. I'll be trying it soon. I will be doing this by myself too. I heard using some dish washing liquid helps too.
