Soft top too Hard top

I bought a 72 with a ragged out soft top and I have now purchased a 72 hard top to put on it. My question is do I have to remove all 17 snaps across the top of the windshield frame? If so, do I need to fill the holes with something?

Thanks,
Bill

I would probablly pull the snaps and put a little sealer there.

If you're getting rid of the soft top, don't toss it. I'm sure someone would be more than happy to take it off your hands and have a new canvas reconstructed for it.

Thanks for the feed back Bouncy. About how much does it cost to get a new
canvas top reconstructed?

Thanks,
Bill

I actually have the holes left were it looks like my Jimmy may have had a soft top. They go all the way through the drip rail in the windshield frame and allow the water to drain through onto the windshield, so the drip rail WON'T hold water and rust! I think it's a great idea!

Re: Soft top too Hard top

I'd check with a shop that makes boat tops and see what they'd charge. One company just started making tops again and they are $799 plus shipping. Even if you can get one made for that price you'd be ahead because the holes are already drilled in your truck...
