Re: how to fix broken emblem
Hi Joe T,
Trying to solder pot metal is pretty much impossible. The only way I would think to possibly fix this is to drill a small hole where the stud was and tap it with a botoming tap. It wouldnt have to be deep just enough to catch acouple of threads. I would then get a piece of threded rod close to the same diameter as the stud and cut it just slightly longer than the original stud. I would then put a small dab of epoxy into the hole on the emblem and then imedatley screw in the new stud. Let the epoxy dry then you should be good. If there is not enough material to drill a hole then I am not sure there is a way to repair it. On a side note I hate the original way the emblems are held on, with those sheet metal nuts. I use a die and thread the studs to accept standard nuts. I then coat the threads with antisez and use a regular nut and a lock washer. Its alot easier and you wont be breaking the studs off. Hope this helps. Good luck. |

Re: how to fix broken emblem
I dislike the way the emblems mount so much that all of mine are off and the holes are filled.....but, that's just me.

Re: how to fix broken emblem
Double stick tape works good. Just use what part of the stud that is left for a line up pin. I have done this before and drilled a perpindicular hole thru what was left of the stud and put a hairpin cotter thru it. You have to be able to reach the back of it after you mount it though.
