leaking brake lines
I put new disk brake hoses from Carquest on my truck. They keep leaking where they bolt to caliper. I replaced cooper gaskets, and still leak. Anybody else have this problem? They're 73 style. Square blocks.

I assume you have 2 copper gaskets per hose/block?
They have to be really tight when they are new gaskets being crushed for the first time.

Yea, 2 gaskets ea time. These hoses never fit flat on the caliper to begin with. I had to gently persuade them to a flatter fit. It's just the passenger side.
I have some thicker gaskets, but I don't see that as a resolution. I cranked them hard. I'm always worried about stripping threads. |

I have the steel line of the rubber hose pointing up. Is that the way you have them?

I don't have a close up enough pic. It runs forwards. If I remember, that was the only way it could route. I'll be crawling under it tomorrow. The Dr side is fine.

Are you running dropped spindles? You might have to tweak the line to help in clear the spindle casting.

Looks fine at the caliper. Does it rub on the spindle/upper ball joint?

I am with N2TRUX. I might snug the line up, and see where it hits, if it hits the upr bj nut or spindle. Then try and bend the line away from that and see you can then remove the line, and bolt it back up without having to make it fit. In other words have it bolt up in a relaxed way????

I got up there today. Just for kicks I put a wrench on it. It tightened down a bit more. I'll bleed, see what happens. Nothing hits or rubs, but I agree with cparman that it should bolt in a more relaxed way.
