sm465 issues

can someone shed some light on how to position the push rod the goes from the clutch pedal to the z bar?

reason being i swapped in a sm465 into my jimmy and need to know if either i need to drill a hole in the firewall or need to clock the bracket that goes on the end of the clutch pedal( it has splines so maybe i didn't line it up right) so that it lines up with a hole that seems to be original( it had a plate covering it and would line up better with the z bar and push rod)

Ive searched and search but nothing seems to help. this is the only thing holding me up from getting it back on the road

any pics, advice, ideas would be very appreciated!

I don't have any pics of my old linkage, I run hydro now. The pick above you can see the original hole the pushrod used. If memory serves the arm from the clutch pedal pointed down straight at the floor been a while for me...

Re: sm465 issues

I'm currently swapping in a Sm 465 into a 67 GMC 1/2 ton that originally had a 3 speed. The z-bar from the three speed is situated about 6 inches forward of where the sm465 z-bar needs to go and noting lines up. The z-bar off my donor (a 1976 so that may be the difference) attaches to the bellhousing. The 3 speed z-bar attaches to the engine block way further toward the front of the motor. to me it looks like the clutch rod (coming from the pedal and out the firewall) has the wrong angle to activate the SM465 z-bar (and it's too short) if i mount it to the bellhousing. I guess i'm just going to try and use the 3 speed z-bar and get a longer rod. It may be too long though and bend so i'll just have to see. Not sure if that's any help or not.
