Anybody know of a good household item to clean an intake with, got the oill leaks and fuel leak taken care of but now my manifold looks like crap

I usually use carb/choke cleaner, then dawn dish soap and a hose. Then I bead blast it and paint it silver (as close to aluminum as possible) or color of the engine. I had a friend that high-temp clear coated his...it turned out really nice. I have never had luck with keeping manifolds looking real good left raw. Thats just me though!

2nd on the hi-temp clear after you get it clean. It may slightly yellow over time, but it will always look better than no finish.

Use Purple Power type of degreaser to get er clean. Then find you a powdercoater and have him do it in blasted silver and clear powder. That seals the pores and will allow future leaks to be wiped cleanly off.

Be real careful with the oven cleaner if it's an aluminum intake. That stuff will pit it up if you let it dwell there long.

Tx firefighter knows what he is talking about. Get it clean and clear coat it. I found a wheel cleaner that did a really good job but it was acid based and you had to be really careful with it and not leave it on long. I think it was Eagle for magnesium type wheels.

I bought this one because I was tired of messing with cleaning them. It's great. Clean with window cleaner or any kind of polish.

Oil Eater from Schucks. $4 for and it cleans diesel intakes even. if theres a better cleaner, god kept it to himself.

I've had intakes powder coated with what
I think they called "cast blast".
It looked so close to the natural aluminum surface that you would have a hard time knowing it was coated. And it was dull instead of shiny, which looks kind of cheesy IMO.
