Re: Is this 72 worth the $$$?

3/4 ton burb.....get a good size engine. i paid $7500 for my 72 burb 3/4 ton 2wd w/ 73,000 miles on the clock and one family owned....they would not go lower and i really wanted the truck. i put a lot of money and sweat into getting it running better as it sat for 8 years. everything new on the ignition including an electronic conversion. also took a fresh air filter, fuel filter, rebuilding the carb (still needs tweaking) and several tanks of gas to get it running as good as it is now. it is a 307 w/ a 3 on the tree manual. plan to go to a 406sbc in place of that puny little engine, replace the 4.57 guts in the corp diff with the 4.10 (hopefully soon) and put a rare OD unit on the stock saginaw trans. i don't like anything with less than a 3.5" stroke (305 and 350), especially on a truck. the 400's have a 3.75 inch stroke. my truck has a few little rust blemishes that need to be addressed, but is clean on the lower panels and underneath and looks good enough that i have already taken it to a couple shows. i plan to do a touch up resto on it now and then do a full body off when the need arises. plan to coat the frame and under body with poly truck bed liner for sound deadening and rust protection....even though it will see very little winter duty. will have the floorboards coated in body matching tinted poly.
