Re: T-Case which one is it? LOL
Yup, 208s and 241s were slip-yoke style and had aluminum cases...that big hunk of iron is a 205.

Re: T-Case which one is it? LOL
regular old 90 wt. gear oil is all it needs, BUT, if the fluid "gushed out" you might want to take a hard look at the seal between the auto trans and the t-case. i had that happen many years ago with a 350/205 combo, t-case was way overfull and transmission very low.

Re: T-Case which one is it? LOL
That 205 is one tough transfer ................LOL I haven't broken mine and I know I treat mine rougher than most
If its overfull on lube the seal between the tranny and the transfer may be bad And don't jump an atv ramp with out the extra t case support brackets,The transmission housing won't be happy Last edited by powerdriver 1958; 08-11-2009 at 07:24 PM. |

Re: T-Case which one is it? LOL
205's came both ways. With or without slip yoke tailshafts.
Regarding 205 transfercase fluid, My 1972 called for 80/90 gear oil. My 1980 called for 30w motor oil. My 1988 V30 calls for ATF. They all work in a 205. Last edited by Dooley; 08-10-2009 at 08:12 PM. |

Re: T-Case which one is it? LOL
My rule of thumb for what fluid to use is based on the tranny. If its auto, I run ATF in the tranny and xfer. If its a manual I run gear oil in the tranny and xfer.
