broken hood latch cable....uh-oh

So my new hood latch cable was giving me problems....
Today it decided to fall apart, now I am stuck and can't open my hood.
What's the secret or do I need to just sawzall my hood to make me feel better?
Cable is completely useless, seperated from cable wire...it's a mess.
Need some help before I do some real damage.
Thx

Can you take out the grill, and work with the latch from behind it?

Sorry, ALL my trucks have latches only, no fancy/dancy cables to break.

Re: broken hood latch cable....uh-oh

ya, what sucks is minor hood damage. I got this new hood latch cable when I did motor swap, not even a year old.
FYI....if your hood latch cable is acting up, lube your latches and get a new cable ASAP!!!!

Re: broken hood latch cable....uh-oh

I've had them brake a few times on differant trucks
if it brakes the cable before the cab you can reach up along side the steering box and get ahold of the cable and cut it so you can pop the hood with the cable but if it comes apart at the latch you can reach in behind the latch with a coat hanger and hook it and pull on it to pop the hood ether way you need to take lots of deep breaths and dont get in a hurry or pissed
