Installing intake and carb, what can go?

There are quite a few htings on the stock intake that appear as though they will not be needed with the new carb im installing. On the passenger side there is a little metal box with a rod and coil in it, it does not go in the motor but appears to be a coil that is effected with heat? what does it do? obvious to me it is not needed.
What else is not needed?

What does everyone do with the hoses that go into the stock air cleaner. Such as the one from the drivers side manifold, and I think one other somewhere.

Also can the factory valve covers take a different oil filler set up to get rid of that tall filler?

That thing with the coil is for your choke. When it's cold it engages the choke, as it warms up it opens the choke up.

Im changing out the carb as well so I should be good to go without it. I do not think it is going to work on the new carb is it?

doubtful that the divorced choke will work on the new carb. is the new carb electric choke or manual? Electric will need a fresh 12v keyed source, it grounds to the intake. manual will need a choke cable run into the cab, or you can mess with the coil and rod but I wouldn't.

As far as the PCV and breather, it's really up to how you want it running, PCV should still be able to hook up to new carb, breather can run to an air cleaner spacer or just run a small filter type. I wouldn't suggest capping them all off though.

electric choke vacuum secondary. I believe it has a power cable with it as well.

I do have a spare wire at the front of my motor that runs along the driver valve cover. what is it for? wonder if it is a constant ket on 12v wire.

Re: Installing intake and carb, what can go?

probably went to the water temp sensor or something... grab a multi meter and check.. don't run it off your distributor power though.
