Re: oppions needed
depending on how much work you want to do... if you are a fab man, then all you need is a body.
But if you are the average dude, hold out for a truck with 4X4 under it already. |

Re: oppions needed
start with a 4x4 truck trust me ..
if you start with a 2wd truck and buy the 4x4 parts you'll probably have more in it than if you started with a 4x4 to begin with the you still have to make it all work Last edited by NUTS4TRUCKS; 08-18-2009 at 11:15 PM. |

Re: oppions needed
I guess it all depends on what the truck or trucks cost. Most body swaps are done because they found a 4wd with a poor body for cheap then found a 2wd with a nice body.I don`t think these swaps would have happened if the prices were high on either truck. It was done because it was cheaper than buying a real nice 4wd.I think it all starts with finding the perect match or you are best to find a 4wd.It`s definately less work.

Re: oppions needed
As someone who builds off road only vehicles, just buy a 4x4. There are just so many things like trans tunnel, extra crossmembers, proper axle alignment, steering geometry, changing the trans from 2wd to 4wd, tranfercase, shifter location/fabrication, etc. It is alot of work to do to compensate for a slight difference in purchase price.
