Choke Issue

Hello - my 350 SB was recently rebuilt but it doesn't crank right up when cold. I understand this is a choke issue and was wondering how hard it is to convert the current Edelbrock carb to an electric choke system. This would be for someone who knows only how to take things apart, and knows nothing about engine mechanics - I just know what looks good!

Re: Choke Issue

Definitely an electric choke would be an improvement if you don't have any choke in the carb right now.

But first, what do you mean when you say doesn't crank right up? You gotta remember that these are not fuel injected engines that we're used to starting in a couple of engine revolutions. On carbureted engines, it may take couple of seconds or more of cranking to start up. And this is with the choke working properly.

Now once the engine is completely warm and if your carburetor is not leaking and is working properly, it should start a little quicker, but still not as fast as a fuel injected engine.

Re: Choke Issue

Hmm, so even after a new electric choke conversion, it may not crank right up? Is there a fuel injection kit or something out there to remedy this? Thanks for the prompt reply!!
