To Cut or Not To Cut??
Okay, so I have a '69 custom C10. It's a mix of parts between 67-72, so all originality is lost. I'm now on the radio phase and went through the radio thread, but can't make a decision.
Should I cut the dash or not? All the radios that fit our dash look cheap (and some sound cheap too!) So I was thinking about cutting the dash to fit a more modern head-unit. What are your opinions on this? How bad will it hurt resell, as I'm planning on selling soon... |

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
If you are going to re-sell, don't put anything in there. Let the new owner decide.
Nice truck....it looks just like Rob Phillips' shortbed 69

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
Agreed. If you are selling it anyway either put the original back in or leave it out completely. Let the new owner decide. Your truck is probably worth more uncut even though it is not all original. The cut/don't cut debate won't end.

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
Normally I would say hack it up, but if you are selling it soon I agree with the 2 previous posters. Just leave it and let the next owner decide. I cut the dash on my truck, but that was my decision. Boog is right, this debate will never die. I've seen some pretty interesting threads debating this very thing.

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??

One more vote for leave it alone. It looks like you have a nice interior, let the new owner cut it up if they want.

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
Just a personal observation ... looking at the pic, potential buyers that would be interested in a long wheel base truck with non-factory 2 tone paint job and large diameter billet/chrome wheels are probably not gonna be too concerned with the hole you cut in the dash for the DIN type radio.

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
I agree with the leave it alone crowd. It is just something for the buyer to cry about and try to knock $500 off the selling price. Let the buyer decide if they want to cut it or not. Nice paint by the way

Re: To Cut or Not To Cut??
what i did in my truck was i built a panel to cover the old hole and built brakets to hide the radio in the glovebox. the problem is you have to have someone ride around with you to change the station
