frame swap question

Would a 1996 Tahoe chassis be a good upgrade for my 72? It would come with push button 4WD so I don't have to have any shifting knobs out of the floor. and a better suspension and gas tank location is where I want it. I'm guessing I'll have to have some custom fab work done for the cab mounts and such. It would also give me anti-lock brakes.

the first thing i would do is break out the measuring tape. check all dimensions.
for me the most important was the wheel base, this would mean shorting or lengthening the frame and all the hardware that goes with it. gas lines drive shafts, wiring..... (for me i made an extra long bed almost 8' 7"). Once you do that figure out how much work it would be to swap over the part you want on your older frame. If you still want to do the newer frame be prepared to have t o take the truck apart several times. I can't count how many times i had the bed and cab off of my truck. you will need lots of blocks and jack stands to get every thing centered up. measure and remeasure ALOT. you will need to be very creative in making body mounts and brackets.
