Power Steering Questions...

I've got a 99 GMC burb 5.7 vortec..... 130000 miles on it. Recently the power steering has been acting up. When it is cold, the power steering works great! it does exactly what it is supposed to do. When it gets hot (the vehicle has been running for more than about 5 minutes), it whines and does not assist at all. It howls and groans. At first I thought I was low on fluid, of course, it is one of my vehicles, so a simple fix like that can't be possible. the fluid is dirty, but full.

Any ideas?

THANK ALL OF YOU IN ADVANCE!

Re: Power Steering Questions...

Hmmm, if the belt is OK I'd get the pump itself checked....sounds like it might be bad.
