driver's side door patch panel

Has anybody had a good experience with body patches for the bottom of the Driver's side door? I am needing one and a little afraid of how they will fit and line up with the rest of the body lines, I have heard a few horror stories.
If they aren't worth doing is there an aftermarket door that will work better?

I have never heard a horror story about a WELD ON patch panel ?
the way it fit's and align's with the other body panel's is up to the person installing it ,
bolt on stuff like a fender won't fit but the door bottom patch panel's work great just order it cut out what you need and weld it in ,,,
