Re: 69 long fleet- First build
I wish I could say there was some progress... With my new job schedule, there isn't a whole of time. Wish I could play even 9 holes once in a while or wet a hook.. Or work on the truck! There may be some stuff lurking on the horizon for me and my truck. Only time will tell....

Good to see some dust....and progress! The steering wheel came out really good and can't wait to see this dash idea. What plans do you have that your stepfather didn't have??

If I remember right, my stepdad did. It is oak. The wheel is Mahogany. I just sanded both and have put about six coats of polyurethane on them now. Thanks for looking and I hope to get motivated again...

Re: 69 long fleet- First build
im really impressed glad i stumbled on this project im doing the low budget build also.....too many toys to pay for....Oh and i am married with a little guy they take most of the money i eat with whats left and sell stuff to play... but seriously great truck love the frame.. really interested in how the paint holds up... I was gonna use POR 15 but with your frame turning out so well i may consider the Hammered look...and the pic with the marine and fat army guy.....As an Army vet that hurts... But as an active soldier welll that hurts more... The ARMY standards are dropping (but dont tell anyone)

Re: 69 long fleet- First build
Thanks for checking it out! Switch- that was just too funny not to post! , but on a serious note, Thanks for what you do! I appreciate any person who serves, no matter the Branch!!
Got a little bit more done to smooth the dash. Not fully welded yet, but get the general idea. Hope it turns out like I see it in my dreams .... More I think about it, I think I'll put a brushed aluminum Bowtie for my radio surround on the top and go with some type of aluminum knobs for the heater (hopefully A/C soon!) this is what I really did yesterday...

Re: 69 long fleet- First build
I know it has been a while, but I've been working a lot lately, just not on the truck. I have done a few things the past few days. Nothing big, but little by little it will be done.
This is all I have to work with, not the best probably, but it seems to be working for me. Working on smoothing my firewall. Long way to go, but I figured I'd have to start somewhere. I also filled the gas tank filler. I don't know if it will work, since there is a compound bend, but it appears to be flush and pretty even with the body lines. Guess I'll see when I do more body work.. Like I've heard before, if it's only metal, it can be fixed. I am learning a lot here and thanks for those who post for their inspiration (both on my build and theirs!) I am also in the process of a new job opportunity with my dad. I will have to travel and be gone for a couple weeks at a time, but it should be worth it. I hope to know something by the end of the month. If it works like I hope it does, it will leave more time for the build and be able to do some mission work that my wife and I want to do.

Re: 69 long fleet- First build
Wow, been a while since I've been around... No updates on the truck tho.
I am having shoulder surgery next week. Not looking forward to that. On the job thing, my dad and I have started a restoration company for water/fire and other type of disasters. (If anyone has a need, pm me and I'll send you some info ) We are going to focus on large jobs from hurricanes mainly, but will do whatever we need to locally as well. I am excited, as it will allow me more time and $$$$ for the truck!!! Hopefully next time I will have some pics because we all know......

Re: 69 long fleet- First build
I'm curious as well. I may still have his number. I'm going to wait till later in the morning and see if everythings ok and how the trucks coming. I know he was in the same boat as me, no heated shop for winter modding months.
