Hazard Light / Brake Light Question
OK I do not know if this is right or wrong.
If my hazard lights are on (flashing) and I hit the brake, they stop flashing (all lights, not just the tail/brake lights, even the dash signal indicators). Is this right or wrong? If it is wrong, which I think it is, what is the problem and how do I fix it. Its not a big deal, I havent used my flashers in a long time. But it just makes me wonder. I do have an alarm system on the truck (Viper) it is connected to the lighting system so that all lights (except headlights and courtsey lights) flash when the alarm is activated, deactivated, or set off. Does this have something to do with it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Eddie,
This is a normal condition on our truck's and most other GM product's of old. I think most newer car's & trucks don't do this any more. Im not shure why this is but if i had to guess i would say when you depress the brake you provide a constant ground and the flasher unit go's steady but that's just a guess. |

I am suprised newer vehicles don't do this too.
What if you were towing the vehicle (only a Furd of course)...... You wouldn't have brake lights if the flashers were on. I think it is a good idea to have it like we do. |

It is so your brake light will turn on. Otherwise it just flashes. Nothing to do with the alarm!
