Suspension- Quick-FAQ

The Suspension Team has been working on a Quick-FAQ for the suspension forum. LINK Our hopes are that this might minimize some of the redundant posts we see here.

We plan to do several topics as time permits. Our next subject will be shocks. We had planned to cover rear disc conversion, but it was brought to our attention that shocks might be a more pressing topic.

Thanks to lolife99, SCOTI, smashingchuck for their time as Moderators here, and the research required to put this together.

Re: Suspension- Quick-FAQ

That's a good thought. We wanted to have a place to send people for quick facts. By linking to the main FAQ it might encourage them to use it more.

Your idea of a direct link to the suspension topics might be even better.

Re: Suspension- Quick-FAQ

It has been a behind the scenes project for a while. Our Suspension Team did the research, but I never could find the time to fine tune it for public release.

I finally got that done, so now I need to get on with the next segment.

Coming soon...

Re: Suspension- Quick-FAQ

How about you create a newb section then they can post all the weekly questions in there and members can answer as they wish.
I don't see the FAQ section working especially if everyone here caters to the newb questions everytime they are asked.

Re: Suspension- Quick-FAQ

The problem with adding yet another section is getting people to go there, and having a set of eyes to watch over it.

With any forum that has a single topic you are always going to have the "newbs" with repeat questions. That's just part of it.

If we set up the Quick FAQ to answer the most common questions then members can be directed there rather than just telling the to use search. I hope this offers a less offensive solution.

I understand it can be a pain adding another section, but I don't see the FAQ stuff work in other forums and I don't see it working here. We have had posts practically on top of each other and there asking the same question. People are too lazy and don't look/search. Give them a place to ask any question they want and they might feel better.
The suspension forum post quality has gone down hill lately. I don't see much in the line of good tech stuff.
Perhaps we need to stop worry about hurting everyones feelings and if the question has been asked a zillion time tell them to go search and come back with more specific or better questions.

Of the many things that we are considering, I assure that is not one of them. To clarify our intentions, that type of posting will be strongly discouraged, and quickly dealt with.

Quality of tech stuff. Everyone is more then helpful here, but the quantity of the same old questions is getting out of hand.

Look I'm not saying we should be a-holes or anything. My opinion is that we should point them to the search feature or to the FAQ section, rather then answer the same questions every week.

Re: Suspension- Quick-FAQ

Sorry, but that's how it read. I guess I have become sensitive to the issue because of recent incidents.

My feelings, which are the site owners sentiments as well is that we will encourage positive posting and work to eliminate negativity.

That theory was going well for a while and we saw lots of industry experts attracted to our forum.

The plan is to get back to that, and offer the Quick FAQ for those repetitive questions.
