Thumbs up Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

It's about an hour or so from me but we are having a yard sale today and i took off this morning to go fishing with my dad and if i take off again to look at a truck i'll be dead when i get home, lol. it's definitly a rare bird with a big block, i thought most of them were for the government and ordered as a bare bones truck. Mike, hope you end up getting it, Jerry Jones has lots of room to store it until you make another trip out here.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

How long is that bed? It looks longer than a normal LWB fleet

edit:

Quote:
Most people know that Chevrolet made a short bed stepside and a long bed stepside but few people know or have seen the extra longbed stepside that was available only on the C-30 One ton making this an extremely rare machine, the bed floor is over 9' long!

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

its a 9 foot bed.
One ton trucks usually sold with no bed or a flat bed. You could get the 9 foot stepside, or the 8 1/2 foot longhorn fleetside.
Thats it, no other boxes installed at the factory.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

I have only seen one 9 foot stepside in person. And it was a turd.

I wonder what the reserve is on it?

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

Although its a nice truck......I coudnt pay more than than the high bid for it.

Honestly i would find a shortbed frame, change all the stuff over. Get new short step bedsides and new steps. Have one sweet "stepper".

Its really not worth a whole lot as a 9 foot step.

I have high bid right now. But reserve is not met.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

I've always wanted to find one and convert it to 4x4, just happened to find a 68 9 footer the other day for 500 that has new tires and is suppose to run great. Will be taking a 400 mile trip this weekend to look at it.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

This truck raises some questions for me. What's the wheelbase? Is it 127"? If it's longer,(Sure looks like it) does that mean it's got a special frame, driveshaft, exhaust pipes and wiring? God, I'd hate to try to cop a u turn in that thing!

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

its not a 127 inch wheel base, its on a 133 inch, like the longhorn. The one tons came in 133 and 157 inch wheel base. The frame is both thicker and taller, and no coil suspention for the rear, only leaf.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

Don't forget it's a single tire 1 ton. Yery tough. Longhorn man, do the C/20 Lonhorns use a streched 3/4 ton frame or the 1-ton? Mine looks tall for a 3/4 ton.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

3/4 ton longhorns used the one ton frame, just installed a lesser suspention.
SRW one tons were normally 9000 GVW. For some reason, there's been some 10,000 GVW SRW trucks... no idea whats up with that though.

Re: Nice old C30 on Ebay

I have been borrowing my buddys 74 3/4 ton, pulling my 22ft flatbed. My Longhorn handles the weight much better, just wish it stopped as well.
