What do you think of this truck?

I am trying to find a 4x4 so I can truly join this forum. I love this body style. I found a '70, 3/4 ton 4x4. Has a 350 motor, 400 tranny, ps, pb, factory AM radio, tilt steering column, clean interior. Said the motor runs good, might need to a new carb, tranny shifts smoothly. The body is rust free as is the underside. A few little dings here and there, a dented rocker(has a new replacement) and a new hood and fender. Tires are 33's and decent. He's asking $3900. I also live in Nor. Cal..

Thanks,
Jesse

Re: What do you think of this truck?

Obviously we need better pictures.

But for me personally, I'd give it a serious look. Since I am kind of in the market for the same kind of rig.

If it's posted on the net for sale, see about posting the link so we can see what the seller is a sellin.

Homer77 from Lake County California. Yes that's right. I'm about 15 miles away. We have another member WWOTR who lives in Cobb. About that truck. Sure looks like a fair deal to me. Have you actually seen this truck? If he's right about the rust and the dings are small I would go for it.

Re: What do you think of this truck?

Always good to here from someone in the county. I looked at one towards Lower Lake a couple of weeks ago, but had too much rust for me.

The guy was supposed to send more pictures to me, but hasn't yet. Seems to be a little more difficult finding a 4x4 without much rust without the big price tag.

Re: What do you think of this truck?

If it drives as solid as it looks, I'd try to make a deal with this cat.

3,900.00? an odd price like that, he's prepped for some haggle IMO.

The C/20 emblems are kind of a red flag for me as well. What's up with that? Check the VIN to see if it started life out as a 4x4.

Being that he has replaced the hood and fender, I'd pay some serious attention to the body mounting area's they bolt to. Since it was prolly in an accident, so check for damage they may be hiding.

Re: What do you think of this truck?

Did they make K20 emblems? I have seen other 3/4 ton 4x4's with C20 emblems.

IMO the price is $1,000 to $1,500 too high in your area. That being said, if it's solid, and it's what you are looking for, then go for it.

One thing that makes a huge difference is where this is in your price range. If you have $6,000 to spend, you can do a LOT of work on that solid of a truck for the remaining $2,000.

You bring up a good point, since I do not know for sure.

The years like this one that were 4x4 just didn't have an emblem from what I have seen, just the "FOUR WHEEL DRIVE" emblem below the front marker light.

I maybe all wrong?

Re: What do you think of this truck?

C 20 emblem is correct for base model 3/4 ton, 2 or 4 wheel drive. Never had a K 20 emblem.
