Ever wonder…… PICS

…… what one of these trucks would look like if it never spent one night out of the garage in the last 37 years?

Ironically, it started to rain as I took the pics, which was probably one of the few times it has been rained on.

Nice truck!

Are the paint stripes on the upper body original?

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS

Those paint stripes were an option, in lieu of the upper body side moulding. I can look up the option number, but not at the moment.

Yeah, that is one clean truck. Rod & Custom magazine, back in the late '60's did an article on what they called "Uncle Daniels". Uncle Daniels were those trucks that were original and unmolested. Your truck, in my opinion, qualifies as an Uncle Daniel.

Looks like the holes that were left when the CB mike clip was removed.

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS

Always good to see a time capsule!

I myself would like to spend a day just looking it over, since as time goes by true originality of these trucks gets lost. (Would be a great example for repro people to study as well, since as time goes by what they make gets watered down IMO)

I agree about the holes in the dash, I noticed them as well and deduced that they were simply a mic clip mount back when CB's were poplular. Totally period for this truck, so I didn't think twice about it.

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS

So, that's 3 votes for the CB mike clip.

The paint stripe code should be D89.

I notice the gas cap is painted to match. Is that original? Or have I just never noticed that before?

Re: Ever wonder…… PICS

The paint stripe is original and is listed on the SPID. The holes were for the CB, That I took off because the PO wanted the CB back for some odd reason. The gas cap is original and I guess almost all the original ones have been replaced over the years. I wonder if all gas caps were body color or if the Cheyenne's and super's had chrome one's?

It has the owners manual, manual the emission control pamphlet and the protect-o-plate. It would have the original title, but the lady I got it from put the truck in her name a couple years ago when here husband died.

CST and cheyenne (only those models if memory serves) trim equiped trucks got a bright fuel filler cap, the rest were body color.
