Dropping it, any ideas?
Just getting around to starting my 67 lwb CST project. Going to be doing the frame over and want to drop it but I haven't dropped a truck before and I am looking for any help or reccomendations you guys can make. Thinking about 4"front and 5" rear. I still need to daily drive/chase parts etc with it,so not sure if thats to low? Need to be able to put engines etc in the back. Thanks

Re: Dropping it, any ideas?
Sounds like you want to do this correctly and not just hack up the stock suspension to get it lower. You have a few options as to how to do this, but given your need to drive and continue to haul moderate loads with this truck- I would suggest 2-1/2" dropped spindles and 2" lower springs in front and 5" lower springs in the rear. With the spindle swap you'll also have to change to disc brakes which is a massive improvment over stock- making it that much better. If the $$$$ is tight (like with most of us), skip the drop spindles and just get 3-4" drop springs. Make sure to install new shocks designed for the lowered ride height and you should be ok. If you start having bottoming out or rub issues....you could consider adding "Helper Bags" out back to compensate for any heavy loads you are carrying.
my $.02

Re: Dropping it, any ideas?
Thanks, thats basicly what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it was unrealistic to think I could drop it and still carry a load. Any thoughts on who to buy from? Thanks again
