I think I could buy the truck the bed came from and the truck the front came from for about half of that, plus some spare parts, like, 3-4 more trucks worth.

Re: Its back up for sale! Let the offers start flying!

Well, maybe he figures that he has to have somewhere to come down from.

Funny thing is that I was contemplating building a similar truck a few years ago minus the hand rails on the bed.

I have little doubt that he actually has 33 K tied up in the truck as the list of parts and work is long and it is pretty easy to get carried away. Still I think market value is quite a bit less than what he is asking.
But he just got world wide exposure for his Craigslist add for free and someone just might be looking for a truck like that and be able to wheel and deal.

Or am I missing something entirely?

Re: Its back up for sale! Let the offers start flying!

NOPE...this guy is totally serious! He has contacted me in the past and again last week about doing some trading. He actually thinks its worth what he is asking. I had to break it to him as nice I could that with a correct bed and AC, in this economy, if he could get 1/2 of what he was asking he should take the money and run.....and that was being nice I thought!

$28,000 for a Mutt? Well like TCB-1 said, it does have new ashtray bumpers... I just remembered, my truck has new ashtray bumpers! Ok, I'll let it go for $28,000 and mine's not a mutt!

Re: Its back up for sale! Let the offers start flying!

Guys - he might have 33k into that truck. Lots of people claim that they restored their truck.

To me restoring a truck means means that I did all the work. Engine, tranny, body, interior, etc.
I could build that truck for 2-3k plus the cost of the original truck.

To others restored means they drove it to a suspension shop to have it lowered.
Then to the engine shop for a rebuild.
Then to the tranny shop for a new tranny. (I can't rebuild trannys but I've personally installed many rebuilt units. th350s are $400 for a good solid rebuild.)
Then to the body shop for ALL the paint and body work.
I bet if you did all that, and added up all the receipts, you could find your way north of $30k.
For $33k I'd have had the shop make the wheel openings in the bed match the front fenders.

Just one man's opinion.

Re: Its back up for sale! Let the offers start flying!

There are companies out there that will dog you trying to let them sell it for a commission. The last few cars I've sold I got this a lot, very annoying.
