Question ignition

Hello All! I have a stupid quesiton. When you start your truck does the key stick in the start position or is it supposed to be spring loaded and click back? The reason I ask this is because my truck came with a "farmer jones special ignition". Welded into the dash, but that is a different story. So I bought a lock set and a new switch to put in my truck, but it doesn't operate very smoothly... I purchased it from chevy duty.... I've tried to even spray some liquid wrench to see it would help, but it didn't do much. If just put a screw driver in there the switch seems to operate correctly. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I odered the same parts as you from Chevy Duty. The key tumbler or whatever it is called got STUCK in the switch. Had to send it back and they replaced it for me. So...perhaps your setup is defective. To answer your question, the switch should bounce out of the start position to the run position.

If they don't replace it let me know. I have my old one that I now think I did not need to replace(there does not seem to be anything wrong with it at all) and you can have it...

They are suppose to spring back after starting.

Could have got enough junk into the lock to jam it.

Alex,

Thanks, are you talking about the tumbler or the ignition switch?

Alex,

That would be great, but I need to pay you something for it? Let me know.
