Question Keep the 68 frame or cut the 72 frame

Ok, here is the deal. I have the 68 gmc shorty project, normal stuff for the 68 (leaf rear, 6 lug front and rear). Then I got the 72 LWB c-10 donor, it has a coil rear, and of course 5 lug. What do you think would be better, use the 68frame and transfer the running gear and cab or shorten the 72 frame? I don't think there is much difference in the frames is there (power steering dimple)? Both frames are in good shape. The cab I will use is on the 72 frame right now. The cab on the 68 is in a lot worse shape than the 72 and it is not an A/C cab. I have the equipment to do the shortening of the 72 frame also. I think it is probably sixes. Thoughts???

I would vote for transferring the the running gear. I have done that and it is not that difficult. In my mind definitely easier than measuring, measuring, cutting, measuring, measuring, cutting, measuring, measuring, welding, and on and on...

Hey Nico, just cut the hell out of the LWB frame, if you decide to keep the shorty you will have to transfer the trailing arm centrer crossmember and fabricate some sort of coil spring/airbag set up for the back, also dont forget about the pan hard and its mounts, in my opinion shortening the 72 LWB would be a lot easier, Im actually in the process of doing this and trust me amigo it aint that hard. Let me know if you need any advice.

Thanks Jhonny, I did see what you were doing to the 68 CST, I left you a post on it. I do feel comfortable doing the shortening, hell I didn't mess up that hood mod. Seems to me just brace it up good, measure 15 times then get to cutting. I'll keep your pics handy if I decide to do it!!
