Hey guys. I am new to the forum. I have a 1968 chevrolet C10 2WD stepside, I am wanting to lower it but I am unsure if the original springs have settled. Does anyone know the factory ride height of this truck so I can determine how much of a drop to order? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

burke117, here's what I would suggest. Each application will be different (tire/wheel sizes), so you will end up with a wide array of measurements from board members. Check out ECE (Early Classic Enterprieses) drop page here.

Now here's my '69 CST SWB that I recently lowered. It was running 15x8 rallys with 235 75R15's on all four corners. The springs on my all original truck (93k miles) hadn't settled to much. To start out with, it had the following measurements:

Driver's Side Front: 33 1/2"
Driver's Side Rear: 33"
Passenger Sde Front: 33 1/4"
Passenger Side Rear: 32 7/8"

After the 4.5/6" drop it ended up the with the following measurements:

Driver's Side Front: 28"
Driver's Side Rear: 29"
Passenger Side Front: 28 1/4"
Passenger Side Rear: 28 3/4"

At the moment I am unable to post pictures, but refer to my build thread in my signature (Project Blank Slate) and jump to page 2 for the beginning of the install. Within this build it will have the before/after pics of the installed drop.

X2 on what Nate typed.

I took measurements on mine before and after also. I know these are really close to stock height tires so it should be close. My numbers were pretty close to Nate's.

Before on 235/75/15's Drivers Front -- 31-3/4
Pass. Front -- 31-1/2
Drivers Rear -- 34-1/2
Passl. Rear -- 34-1/4

After lowering 3.5/5-- Drivers Front -- 27-1/2
Pass. Front -- 27- 3/4
Drivers Rear -- 29
Passl. Rear -- 29-1/4

Hope this helps.....

where did you measure to get the stock height?

The LMC catalog shows a diagram on their drop spindle page. It measures at the trim line above the front and rear wheels. You can check it out online at LMC.com

I've always measured at the wheel arch. IMO it is a good place, can't really mess it up.

thanks guys. My truck doesn't have any trim on it so LMC's chart didn't help. I now can measure and compare to figure it out. thanks again.
