Bed option questions for a 55

Hey just picked up a 55 3100 truck. It is a step side and was wondering if fleetsides were available. I am new to this style truck so I am not sure. Thanks for your help.

One of the spare trucks I purchased was a fleet side but it was a 58, Ijust needed the cab. I'm not sure what year Chevy came out with the fleet side option. It was a nice looking bed but not for me, also I think it might be hard to get the replacement parts for it, not sure if anyone is making repros of it these days.

Closest thing to a fleetside, would be a Cameo.... I think....

I'm gonna have to ask, is it a first or second series? First series there were no fleet side, only step side. That's why sometimes you will see a late model bed on the AD trucks. Second series is like what Jock60 said, Cameo is the closest thing.

Re: Bed option questions for a 55

58 was the first year of steel Fleetside bed. 58-59 are the same. I believe 60-66 are the same too. Cameo (fiberglass sides applied over stepside bed with different tailgate assy) was available from 55-59. They are being reproduced too.

Re: Bed option questions for a 55

I,personally like the fleetside bed better than the stepside. Short, fleetside beds are hard to find where I am.I think that because the only choices from 55 to 57 are step or cameo,,I am just plain burnt out on the step siders. That's all ya see because thats all there was. Just a matter of taste but if ya can score a fleet bed,,go for it.JMO-Keith

Re: Bed option questions for a 55

First it's a 2nd series. The truck is actually a 58 with a 55 front clip. I have seen a couple fleets on the web but no info. I have a 66 fleet and would love to make this one a fleet.
What you do with the bed on your spare truck?

Re: Bed option questions for a 55

The Cameos were available from '55 to half way thru '58, then the Fleetside replaced the Cameo.

The step side bed was the same frome 55 2nd to 66. The 58-59 fleet changed in 60 and went to 66.

Re: Bed option questions for a 55

So in 58 and 59 a fleetside was an option. Wish I could find one. Thanks guys for the info.

Are you looking for a long or short wheel base? Sounds like sandjr74 has a spare.
