Smile New Guy Bout to buy a 1967 C20

Hello everyone. My name is Warren and I am from Milwaukee, WI. Big into motorcycles, so I have a bunch of fab experiance. Built an Hotrod last year as well. With that said, I am looking to purchase a 67-72 C-10 or c-20 and make into a daily driver. I found one down the street. It is a 1967 c-20 shortbed truck. I dont know much about it. That is where I need your guys help. What I do know is that is has a 350 motor and granny gears.

What do I look for?
Will the rear end be a problem?
What about trans?
Serial numbers?

The guy is asking $2200

Any help would be great. Thanks a bunch, Warren

Welcome from Texas!! As an owner of a 71 for 14 yrs..... I am still a newbie compared to a lot of guys on here, you will get the info you need that I can't provide from them But at $2200, if it runs and drives, it sounds like a good price without pics........

Welcome from Wausau WI! good to see more wisconsin folks on here.
idk about granny gears
granny gears could be the trans.
like granny low
check for RUST my truck was full of it.
rust in
cab corners
cab supports
rockers
fenders and inner fenders.
A picture would help alot!

look at my build look in these areas for rust. that i replaced

i would say its better to start off with a sound truck than a rusty one. its worth the money. but i know 67-72 are hard to come by in Wisconsin so if it is nice go for it.

Welcome to the Board.
A C-20 would be a longbed, unless it was shortened. Sure it's not a C-10? How many lugnuts?

Re: New Guy Bout to buy a 1967 C20

While I am there taking a pic, what should I look at in order to figure out if it is a c-10 or c-20. The only reason I say it is a c-20 i because of the little badge on the side of it. I know that doesnt mean much.

Re: New Guy Bout to buy a 1967 C20

Count the axle lugs
6 it's a 1/2 or c10
8its a 3/4 or a c20
I believe?
Or something about where the cab sits on the frame
The cab mounts are differnt between the 2 trucks

Re: New Guy Bout to buy a 1967 C20

As threeonthetree stated, rust can be your biggest problem. Look the truck over very carefully before purchasing. BTW, "Granny gears" usually refers to the 1st gear in a manual transmission.

Re: New Guy Bout to buy a 1967 C20

Found out the truck has been shortened. Forgot to grab a pic. Looks like a nice job. Fair amount of rust. Lower rails and cab corners. It does have a manual transmission.
