72 4x4 SWB exhaust with headers
I'm looking for an exhaust kit for my 72. Local custom installs are running $550 and up.
I've seen several past posts about Heartthrob and other kits but I'm unsure about how well they fit a short bed with headers right out of the box. I dont mind some cutting and welding but I dont want to go overboard. I'd like to exit the exhaust behind the rear wheels. Any info or insight would be appreciated. Gary |

never seen one, but that install price sounds fair for around here if you are buying mufflers from the shop included.

I have a heartthrob setup on my short 4x4 and other than the hangers not doing exactly what I wanted, the system installed with little effort. I can email some pictures if you need them. My set is for manifolds however.

Man those prices sound awful high compared to around here. I usually just ran mine to behind the cab, in front of the axle.

71 super if you have pics I'd appreciate them. Also does the heartthrob system lend itsself to shorting the frront pipe to connect to a header collector?

I had my local muffler guy just bend me up some pipe based on templates that I made out of some thin round bar....had him make them a few inches longer than required and then just trimmed as needed...I did the fitting and welding myself.....I got lucky, never had to go back for any re-bends....I think I have $200 in everything including the mufflers & hangers!
