What to Do????
I need to replace the engine in my '61 Wagon. While at it I also want to swap the Muncie 4 speed to an automatic ...just too old to be shifting.
Anyway thru Craigslist I found and bought this '79 Chevy Camper Special from the original 86 year old owner who bought and had a dealer install a 350 crate engine and had the th400 rebuild...he provided receipt for the parts and labor. Wow what a find and during the drive home, I realize that the truck was nice and tight, very well taken care of and was in excellent running condition plus it's all original. When I got home I thoroughly inspected it and realize that it would be a crime to pull the engine and tranny out on this original 109K mile truck with 9K miles on the new crate motor and rebuilt tranny, and then to part out the truck What to do...what to do Last edited by Seon; 10-21-2009 at 11:00 AM. |

Re: What to Do????
I suggest you pull the camper and runnibg boards and sell them on Craigslist. Clean it it up completely and run it on eBay. My guess is you will be able to make a profit and buy the motor you need.
You are correct in feeling that the truck is too clean to just part out.

Re: What to Do????
remove the camper and running boards then deliver that truck to my house immediately for "safe keeping"dont worry ill take good care of it.seriously i would re-sell the whole truck vs parting it out its too clean to part out like that.i would remove the camper and running boards personally but that one is up to you.

I'll trade you a 350 and th400 for it! I agree with these guys, sell it for a profit and buy tour drive train.

I'll guess I'll post it on Craigslist and hope someone will save this clean, rust free truck. But if no taker by the time I pull the engine and tranny out of this '61 wagon, then I'll be forced to part it out....man I hate the thought. |

Re: What to Do????
I'll trade you my truck for yours. Mines not as clean, but has a solid drivetrain. 350/TH400, same as that one.
That would be a shame to part out, so would mine, but mine's not showroom fresh like yours.
