Re: What did you do to your truck today?

For a moment there I had a Batman Flash Back. The red/orange color against the gloss black made the barbell look like something from the trim of the Adam West Batmobile.

That gives me an idea. What WOULD a truck/WHat truck would Batman have used to modify look like IF Batman needed one? I figure he would want a '60 GMC to start with (hood snout - Nose of bat?) Maybe a 59/60 ElCamino becasue of tailfins?

Dudes we just got to draw this up. Lets have some fun with this. Lets make another message

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I picked up some wheels that I thought might work at leas until I get some nicer wires, But after fighting to get them bolted up (universal lugs suck), they don't clear the caliper when torqued. hey did look pretty cool with the old school meats, though.

<edit> Still working on the logo for the center caps, that one is OK, but I like my design better.

If the interference is minor and in a limited area, you might get away with some light grinding on the calipers. There's a lot of meat on the calipers. I did this when I was running mid 1960's vintage 5 spoke mags designed for drum brakes. I also had to be careful that balancing weights (Tape-a-weights) were mounted near the centerline of the wheel or they would run into the calipers. After the minor grinding they worked fine with no issues.

Here's a picture although the disc brakes aren't visible:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I might try that, but it seems to be the whole face of the caliper. I haven't tried mounting the front, the back is a Caprice axle.I noticed as soon as I snugged them up, I couldn't see light between the caliper and the wheel. I thought they looked pretty sweet, but what I really want is a set of Caddy wires. These were just too good to pass up. I might even make a buck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Update on the wheels. Put them up on CL and they sold today for twice what I paid. Now to find some wheels that fit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Measured another guys project today to check the cab to rear axle to see if all my calculations have been correct so far. Everything appears to be spot on. So i moved to the front end and took the radiator support off of the caprice and started mocking the 1964 truck radiator support. New pics uploaded on "My build" page

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I bought some new seats yesterday and I sat them in the truck today. They are tan buckets from a 2001 F**d. I got them for $40.00 on craigslist. They are in great shape, very comfortable and seems that they are darn near a perfect fit !!! They fit the shape of the floor pan nicely, but I'll need to drill new mounting holes. They seem to sit a little higher than the stock bench but that ok with me because I'm not a very big guy. Now I just need some ideas for a console for in between the seats.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed my newly designed mirror arms. The original made it so that the bar between the side window and the vent window landed smack in the middle of the mirror. So I cut about 3 inches out of the arm and welded it back together and painted it black. I think my next step is to get a 5" convex mirror head to give me great visibility.

I like the way they look, I wonder how that would work on the 4-5-6 years

Agree with 65Custom, that looks great - nice little modification of stock parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I pulled a 305 v8 from my 55 chevy parts truck and made the decision to rebuild it as a hi perf engine w/700 r4, and put it in my 62. Now I need to figure out if I should sell the 305 v6 w/muncie 3 spd from my gmc. Any ideas on how much it's worth? runs good but leaks a little from the pan & tranny is good. Or if anyone local is interested pm me
