1968 Chevy C-30 Project!!!
Just purchased this 1968 Chevy C-30 from a co-worker. It has the typical rust for chevy's, but repairable. It may take awhile, but hopefully in time this will be a complete restoration. Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Really nice mate!!, we just picked up a C-20 and is in very similar shape like yours, let me know were you find the bed since this truck had a wood bed instaled and the old one got stolen...

Re: 1968 Chevy C-30 Project!!!
Welcome, looks like the original factory built platform bed and west coast mirrors. Is the SPID "service parts indentication decal" still on the inside of glove box door? A clear photo of it, we can tell you much more!

Re: 1968 Chevy C-30 Project!!!
Thanks for the great welcome. The truck has the typical rust, corners of floorboard, rockers, cab corners. I pretty much have stripped the interior to get a better look. It may take my awhile, but I plan on getting the cab and all off and going from the ground up. The decal is on the glove box, I will get a pic of that today and post it. As for the bed, yes it will be a wood bed when finished. Somebody over time welded steel plates on it. I have looked at bed parts on Classicparts.com. I will keep you posted with further.
Thanks. |

That's awesome, I've wanted an old truck like that to fetch parts in for a while.

The glove box still had the SPID. The pic is hard to see, but here is what it had on it.

Re: 1968 Chevy C-30 Project!!!
Looks nice. I started a similar project this fall. I'll have to start a thread after I get some pictures tonight. I also have to check for my SPID tag.
Mine was a tow truck body. Unfortunately I haven't found a flatbed to put on it yet. Does anyone know where I can get a decent priced one in upstate NY? Nice truck...have fun!
