Re: Old debate 700r4 200r4 new opinions?
I have a 85 monte carlo ss that was a state trooper car. The 200R tranny in it was obiviously built. I could tell the difference in that monte and the others I drove. it has a 305 in it. the 350 was just coming out in 87/88 montes. The guys with the newer ss would see me at lights and ask what I had in it. it would bang all the gears. Reminded me of my dads 402/turbo 400 with the amount of bang. My friend had a mustang GT and we took it out on the highway My montes speedo only went to 85. His GT went above 100 I cannot remember exactly what but the mustang got past 100 and it would no longer climb. The RPMS and mph were done. We took the Monte out and we were going 55 or 60mph. I bang the pedal The tach screams climbs and shifts out the speedo goes from 55 well past 85 in a second. I can watch the rpms steadily climbing. It crushed what the Mustang did I backed out of because we were rollin
