73-87 DJM control arms concern

Hey guys,

I just wanted to drop by and give you my experience with DJM suspension parts I have had recently.

I ordered a pair of DJM upper control arms from Summit Racing for 230, over half as much as the Strong Arms. You really get what you pay for with these parts. The pre-drilled ball joint flange was miss aligned, weak, warped and unsafe. The supplied ball joints with the kit, were substandard. Even the nuts and bolts stripped when putting the kit together.

I strongly advise that you think about the quality of the suspension parts that you install on your truck and avoid DJM. I feel that I am justified writing this as I gave JDM multiple e-mails to correct this issue. I ultimately sent back the parts after Summit and expressing my concerns without reply.

Mods, you can move this to the suspension thread, but I think this applies most of all to the 73-87 guys.

Thank you

Re: 73-87 DJM control arms concern

i had a similar experience with them when i bought some djm lower control arms from summit. Summit's customer service was very helpful but when i called djm about the problem i got an Indian that i could hardly understand and he knew nothing about the parts i bought or truck suspension in general. Moral of the story DJM customer service and parts are shoddy and summit was very helpful and returned parts that they normally wouldnt because, i drilled for grease fittings and installed them, just because of my deal with djm

Re: 73-87 DJM control arms concern

That's sad to hear. I have been using DJM products for years with good results.

I have never used there tubular arms or had a need for customer service. Looks like one to watch for.

Thanks to Summit for taking care of business.

That part never should have left the factory if they had any kind of quality assurance or if the person making the parts had any kind of pride in what they do.

Even the painter should have seen that poor bolt hole placement and tossed them in the scrap bin rather than waste their time painting them.

Re: 73-87 DJM control arms concern

I have the same control arms on my truck for quite a while now. They did not have the same problems you mentioned, but when I redid the front suspension I did replace all ball joints and bushings.
