I believe tightness of belt plus the weakness of that upper bracket is probaly cause of your issues .I bet if you ran a standard style upper bracket or a standard belt setup you wouldn't have this issue

X 2. That is why I asked him to loosen up the belt and see it that gets rid of the twist. With that big of a pulley on the nose of alt. Gives it more leverage to pull the alt around. That top bracket looks weak to me also.

looks like a lot of the issue is the bracketry. try finding something that has 2 bolts holding the top bracket on instead of just 1. It looks like the top bracket may be bending a bit too.
See if you can find a thicker tube spacer for the bottom and use a thick washer on the end where it mates up with the alternator. Bottom line - you got a beefy pully setup that is putting a lot of the tension further out than normal on the alternator shaft and you need a beefier bracket system.

my alternator is still shifting i can see it before i even put the belt on.
i cant get it to twisted outward? |

Looking at the next to the last pic, the lower alt. bracket looks bent inward at the end, these often got used for lift points to hoist the motor, that maybe the case.
It is obvious that the alt is pointing in toward the water pump. I know that you installed a heli-coil into the head maybe that you did not get the hole straight when you drilled it ?? pull the alt. and then install the lower alt. bolt, watching to see if by chance it's bent if not put a square up to the bolt and the block to to see if it's square or not. check that lower bracket, this is where the geometry problem is. With the cog belt, you shouldn't need the tension like a V belt, but will still need some tension. Dave

You may not want to do it, but I would grind an angle at the end of the spacer where it mounts on the head. You can then rotate the spacer until the altenator straightens up.

I've had some pretty extreme work on my pulley set up...
bottom line_______ buy a bracket set that works. Alan Grove (IIRnameC) makes a good product.
