Core rad support frame

Can some one tell me the distance between core rad support and frame? This will help in initially lining things up and possibly if I have rubber supports backwards as I wasn't paying attention again when I pulled it apart.

Hey K, after looking at yours I believe there are two different setups...if you are going to the 67-68 front end. Check the two setups here...

Mounts

You can see the 60-68 is a different setup...and they have it pictured upside down (at least that is how mine was when I took it apart).

I put an orange line where the rad support will go, and the blue line is where the frame would be. And then on mine, those triangular pieces on the bottom were bent up so the nut could not spin off. Not sure if that was someones personal touch or if that is the way they came. I would guess that is the way its suppose to be.

As a side note, the LMC mag I have shows the setup you have...so I am not sure if it will work with that one or not...? Maybe someone else can chime in.

There is a difference in 67,68 and 69-72. The 67,68 have a smaller hole in the frame mount piece and use the mounts with the triangle shaped piece. The LMC catalog is not correct, as they show one mount for all years. Sorry, but mine is all apart right now, so I can't provide the distance between core and mount.

Thats what I thought. Does my diagram with the colored lines look correct?

The flat one goes between the core support and frame and the shoulder on it goes down in the hole in the frame mount. The cone shaped one goes on the bottom small end down.

You have them reversed....

I agree you have the rubbers reversed!

LockDoc, do you have a picture of it assembled?...I guess I am not completely clear on what you are saying and would like to know as I am will be putting mine back together soon. I am thinking mine wasn't correct from the PO...so it wouldn't have been correct when I took it apart.

I just looked again this morning and most of it was still rusted to the rad support...so this is how mine went (on my 67) from top to bottom:

Square "washer" goes inside rad support with bolt hanging down.
Then rad support.
Then under rad support, there is a rubber "washer" and two steel "washers".
Then frame.
Then rubber "washer", steel "washer", and then triangular piece, and then nut.

I altered my previous diagram to show this (below).

Not sure if that is correct, but that is the way mine was...and appears to have been for a long time. Rubber was shot...everything else rusted together.

I didn't catch that you had a '67. They are completely different than what is posted in this thread... The OP has a '71 GMC.

K, you already got your fenders and front end put on? Dang. How does the 67 clip look on the ol gmc?

It will look a lot better once I get it all painted, but I sure like it better than the all chrome GMC grill.
