Looks like it's part of the tach near the bottom.

What model truck did that cluster come from? Looks perfect for an idea I have...

Out of a 70s big truck, C50-60 etc. Can't tell if it was a deisel or not, almost want to say a 6 banger with a 4k redline. I'm not an expert, but did GM even have a diesel in the 70s???

Re: Diesel tach/vac pic for thirdstreettito

I believe the 6 cylinders have a 5,000 rpm tach just like the v-8s.
This may have come from an 80s truck judging by the font on the gauge faces. Definately not a common set-up...

I thought 80s too, but has amps gauge instead of volts, thought that went out in the late 70s?? But has electrical oil gauge...

Re: Diesel tach/vac pic for thirdstreettito

plastic needles didn't come into play until 81. I would think the amp gauge makes more sense for a diesel as a drop in volts will not kill the engine. But looking at the printed circuit you may be able swap the amp gauge out for a volt gauge.

My two cents.

Re: Diesel tach/vac pic for thirdstreettito

The "font" of the lettering on the gauges tells me it is from a 70's truck.

WOW I've never seen one of those before.
Would be great for the twin turbo 6.5 project that keeps getting pushed to the back burner.

Re: Diesel tach/vac pic for thirdstreettito

Just got informed on this thread, forgot about it. Are you sure this is a diesel cluster?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but how can a diesel have a vacuum gauge?? Also I'd think it would say diesel fuel only on the gauge...

Re: Diesel tach/vac pic for thirdstreettito

Diesels have vacuum pumps bolted on them driven via a belt or gear to produce vacuum to operate accessories.

The newer ones have these, but didn't think the older ones did. Just find it odd that it has that...
