I have a copy of "Accessories for 1972 Chevrolet Truck" It does not show a gun rack. But this book may not show all accessories from 1972. Just letting you know what I know.

Probably somethign the dealer ship went and bought from an outside vendor and installed. I have a hard time believing that, even back then, that a company as big as GM would want to go on record condoning the killing of animals...with the "for sport" part implied.

If my truck had a gun rack in it, the gun wouldnt be for killing animals, it would be there to take out those smart butt kids in thier rice burners!!!!!!

Mine had a gun rack in it, but I think the PO installed it as he was a good old boy hunter.

A friend of mine has a gun rack in his '71 Blazer but it isn't listed on the RPO sheet.

Mine was a dealer installed option. As in they went down the street, bought one and installed it for the buyer.

My truck has a gun rack in the back window, it certainly doesn't look factory having a range of adjustment in the middle so it would fit different size trucks. The only use mine gets is to carry an golfing umbrella. Even if I had a gun it would be illegal to carry it in such a rack in the UK.

I think gun racks were only options to us truckers that admitted the "redneck" in our names. Gun racks are cool and everyone should have one, even though the real fire power is under the seat! lol.. Most gun racks I see here in Oregon have a fishing pole on them.
