brake problem

i have a 67 k10 with front disks and rear drums and my rear brakes are not working i have good front brakes but i am not geeting fluid to the rear of the truck. so i cleaned out all of the lines and the proportioning valve and bought a new master cylinder for a 76 suburban wich i got the axles from but the rear brakes still dont work. does any one have any ideas

First do you get any fluid to the rear drums when you depress the pedal and loosen the bleeder valve?

Describe how they don't work also. Does it mean that they don't move at all or don't have a lot of grabbing power to them.

It could be that you have a collapsed rear brake hose. The one on top of the axle or they're not adjusted or installed correctly. Could also be the proportioning valve not working properly.

i get very little fluid to the rear of the truck after bleeding the brakes for ever and i meen i cleened the brake lines to make sure they were not pluged

your rear flexible hose has probably collapsed. i just went through the same thing. just a trickle of fluid would come through the rear bleeders.

Is you brake light on in your dash?

is your prop valveb for a disc/drum setup?///when bleeding brasakes did you clamp the pin on the prop valve like the service manual instructs?

If you're just getting a trickle then I'd go ahead and replace that rear brake hose regardless of whether it's good or bad. It's located on top of the rear axle.

My 69 did the same thing you can't tell by looking at it. I had power brakes so I could force enough fluid into the rear brakes but the hose was so collapsed that fluid would not return and would lock up the rear brakes.
