Correct stock radiator for C/20 402

I have a 1970 c/20 with a 402 engine that always seems to run hot. I have done a lot of things over the years to try to help the problem. It has a 2 core radiator in it. I had it recorred years ago and the guy told me that there was no 3 core available for this truck. Is that the correct radiator for this truck or is there a 3 core that will fit in there without a lot of modification?

Re: Correct stock radiator for C/20 402

Welcome to the 67-72 Chevy Truck Board from West Michigan!

It has been some time since I bought a radiator, but 3 and 4 core radiators used to be available. A 3 core will drop right in but a four core needs larger hold downs.

A 396/402 never came with a 2-row.The HD radiator was part of the package.

I have a 400 small block 5 speed and I put the desert cooler (4 row) in mine from Complete Radiators for $213.62. That price is from 2007. Be sure you tell them automatic or standard.

I have a 402BB GMC that had a 4 core in it and I replaced it with a new Modine 4 core radiator for $200 and fits and works perfect.
