283 engine install
All, can some shed some light. I'm installing a 283 in my 1983 chevy custom.
My question is how do i mount the power steering pump to the engine? Also, any other tid bits would be appreciative. Thanks Tony

Re: 283 engine install
that motor is all based on swp stuff. to use the stock 73+ stuff you will need to convert it to a long water pump and have the heads machined for the mounting holes OR swap the heads for newer ones.
there are ways of doing it though. |

Re: 283 engine install
I have a 327 in my '62 with a long water pump and "70's-80's" style brackets with camel back heads with no accessory holes. The ps pump mounts to the water pump, and the belt tensioner part of the bracket mounts to the exhaust manifold stud.
As for the altenator, I doubled up the lower alt bracket to make up for the long stud that threads into the head. Here's a couple pics, ps pump doesn't show though.
