3.54 1/2 ton rear?

Anyone ever heard of this option in a 1/2 ton truck, first one I've seen.
Its in a 68 big block truck
I haven't looked to see if its a dana 60, thats usually a 3/4 ton rear gear ratio

I would say yes, it is a Dana 60.

I've seen 3.54 Dana 44s before in 1/2 ton, leaf-sprung GMC trucks.

there is zero documentation of this, but they have popped up from time to time, again, mostly in dana/leaf spring trucks, and they seem to be more on the inline trucks than anything else.

Re: 3.54 1/2 ton rear?

It`s a Dana ratio.I`ll bet you have a Dana.It could be a 60 or a 44.I would have expected the truck to be a manual trans. They used taller gears in BBCs as well as automatics. They came through with 3.08s,usually when paired to an automatic.

3.54 is what's in my D60 that came from Rick Manes. He said he'd been finding them in SWB trucks with a BBC.

Yeah,3/4t Danas are not unusual. It`s the 1/2t ones that are fairly rare.

Re: 3.54 1/2 ton rear?

Well, I checked it today & its a 12 bolt, I guess they stuck the 3.54s in there just to give us something to wonder about. Thanks for all the input

Re: 3.54 1/2 ton rear?

I know of a '67 Chevy truck that has a big block with a 3.54 rear-end, but am not sure if it is stock.

My hunch is it is not.

I know the engine is not stock for the truck, it is a 454.
