c10 c20 suspension
what's the ride height difference between a c10 and c20 ....I'm going to be putting 3/4 ton suspension under the front and rear of my truck...and going to be putting the 14 bolt under the rear also...was wanting to know how much it was going to raise my truck up...thanks fellas...

The 3/4 ton ball joints are larger in diameter than the 1/2 tons.
You'll have to change out the upper ball joints. O.E.M. ones are rivited in at 4 points around the joint to the upper control arm. If'n your's are bolted in, then they've been replaced sometime in the past. On the lowers you'll have to swap out the enitre lower control arm as the lower ball joints are pressed in and the diameter of the area where it presses into the lower control arm is smaller than the 3/4 ton ones. Also you'll have to swap out the spindles/streering knuckles.

I planned on changing everything from the control arms out to the spindles on the front...I have a 3/4 ton pickup and a 1/2 ton pickup...so I have all the parts to do it...I was just wondering about the ride height difference...
also, where can I get some quality ball joints and polygraphite bushings to rebuild the 3/4 ton front end before I put it up under the 1/2 ton pickup...thanks.. Last edited by Stitch; 01-12-2010 at 08:38 AM. |

I got all did my whole front end all at once, and got all moog stuff, but I got some of it at oreilly's, some of it at advance auto, and some of it at rockauto.com. Buying it from 3 places like that, I think I figured I saved $150 over buying it all from just one place. Just price it around at the local places, and be sure to check rockauto.com--great customer service.

You could ask the parts store if they will price match. The local O'Rielys does. Why don't you just measure the height of the 3/4 ton? Then you will know how high your half ton will be. If you want to know the difference, measure both.

if you look at the part numbers for front springs, C10/C20, the numbers are the same.

The spring part number are for HD 1/2 ton and LD 3/4 ton springs. The HD1/2 and LD3/4 are the same and the HD3/4 and LD1-ton springs are the same. The springs that are for the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are what came stock on my 3/4 ton, it had the LD springs. If you get the 1-ton springs, basically they don't flex. might as well have put solid metal in there....lol

I'd say the front will be at most an inch lower with the engine and trans in the truck.

thanks Damien...that gives me something to look at...now I can go measure...also, they wheels on the 3/4 ton are 16.5" whereas the rallys I have on the diesel now are 15s of course....so that should raise it some also...I want it to look beefier, but I don't want it to look like a lifted 2wd if you get my drift...

also, the 3/4 ton has a sway bar on it...do you think it would best be served on the diesel that will have the 3/4 ton suspension under it and be at stock height or on the crewcab that will have 1/2 ton suspension and be static dropped 6/8 or roundabout there...thanks fellas...

If you have to choose, Id say the lowered one. otherwise it may lean and drag in places it wouldn't while driving straight.
