Re: 91 DD build
Alright not much progress, just a lot of sand blasting right now. But I do have a few questions. Before someone says anything, Im not trying to sell anything on here just asking.
1)How much could someone sell a 350 outta a 91 for? All it needs is a good rebuild and it will run great, runs now but the rings are shot to hell and back. 2)I got a friend who Im trying to buy a 4-wheel drive from. Its an 86 regular cab long base. Lots of rust but I couldnt see any holes in it. It has a 350 with TH350 and transfer case, it runs with no problems except valve seals, so it burns oil on start up. Drives good, no slippage, and shifts into 4wd great. He only wants $400 for it with clean title. Is this a good deal? This is also why I want to sell my 350, Im thinking bout giving him $100 now, and if my 350 will sell for an easy $200 then all I will owe him is $100 which will be my next check. If asking the price on the 350 is against rules, Im sorry, I will subscribe to the site before I ask agian. I just need to know quickly so I can sell this motor.

Re: 91 DD build
I don't think your questioning is out of line or against the rules, in the way you asked. The prices you mentioned don't seem out of line, either. Sounds like you know how to trade. That's a good trait if you're gonna keep playing with trucks.

Re: 91 DD build
Here are the pics as my new truck sits right now.
Overall is a good truck, runs good, dont smoke, transmission is good, new transfer case was put on it about 7 months ago. It has been sitting for 7 months too, surprised me but it started easily after putting some good gas in it.

Re: 91 DD build
WOW thats some bumper.... Almost looks like one of the old cow catchers of the steam locomotives.
The truck looks like it has potential though. |

Re: 91 DD build
Yeah I took that bumper off today, heavy SOB. Dropped it on my foot at about noon today and it stiill hurts. But this truck is going to be putting my build off. Im gonna get it fixed up a bit so I can park my 91 and drive it around while I work on my main truck.

Re: 91 DD build
Well I know I havent been working on this build lately, but I have gotten three things done to it, mostly cause Im doing a frame off restore on my 86. Sunday I put my new (to me) seat in and re-wired my radio. Today Im gonna put my roll-pan on the truck. It has to be slightly modifed since it came off a fleet-side, but it will look nice when all said and done. Eventually Ill fiber-glass it in to have a smooth look on the rear.

Re: 91 DD build
Well as it stands right now Im looking at getting a 427 big block. It needs a complete re-build and is already bored .20 over. Its not going to be a DD when I go to build this truck. It will be a week-end driver and pure show truck. But Im getting the motor for $150 from the same feller I got the 4x4 from.

Re: 91 DD build
What a Christmas, got a bunch of good girfts, hung out with some great family, and my transmission completly went out. So since this is my daily driver, Im putting my 4x4 restore off for awhile to get this one back on its feet. I bought a motor and tranny combo for $200 off craigslist. The motor is just another 305 that dont run but the trans is a TH350. While I have the truck parked, I figured it would be best if I put a new rear main in it. Also while the truck is down Im gonna finish up the body work and paint it. Anyway, heres some pics, first time using my new digital camera...
The motor that is getting a new rear main. This is the combo I bought. This is the trans that went out. My dad is gonna learn to rebuild it with the help of some of his friends.

Re: 91 DD build
I got the motor and tranny back in, ran great. No leaks, nothing, started some sanding on the driver side fixing some dents. Then 1 week after I get the truck going great, I slide down a mountain, landed in a ditch, then another car slide into me totaling the truck. I no longer have this truck, makes me sad, but Im alive and the insurance paid me so I now drive a 98 Firebird. Just thought Id let ya'll know this build died.

Re: 91 DD build
Well this is the last pic I got off the truck, its my favorite too. This was about one hour before the wreck.
This is what replaces the truck now, its fun to drive, great on gas, and looks cool. But man you cant replace your first truck, or first vehicle of any kind.
