I agree with you On the silver one firenuttz, and I think the blue one is dead on.
I'll probably only do @4" lift and 33's on mine...

Gerald, I upload pics to photobucket from my phone then copy/paste them here

do you still have the spring hangers for the front from that 91 burb in your signature? and the 4x4 engine mounts and cross member? i would save all of that if you can and just buy a four inch lift that comes with front springs and put those in, what axles would you use if you converted the truck to a 4x4? 1 ton, 3/4 ton, or half ton? and what trans/t-case would you use? if you want to keep it a small block auto than i would go for a 4l80 with an np208 but if you want a manual than i would try to find a 5 speed np208 combo out of a early nintys 4x4 and find the axle out of a leaf sprung front ford and have a drivers drop setup because te spring perches are less than an inch off from ford to chevy to dodge when the axle is leaf spring setup i dont know, im rambling on and need to stop my shenanigans

Burb was a 2x4
Buy my uncle in law has a 4x4 parts truck that I'm going to try and snag.
I'm probably gonna run 6 lug stuff for now cause it's cheap.
I'm also considering running a divorced transfer case....

a divorced transfer case is a double edge sword, one bonus is that you can put it in the center of the truck and have your front and rear drive lines the same length however, if you break the intermediate diveline between the trans and t/case than you are plum out of luck. i wouldnt worry about breaking the drive lines though unless you are gonna run like 800hp with drive lines made out of exhaust tubing. i would just run the divorced t/case if you are running a mild build small block though

gonna go to bed, i gotta get up at 4 and go to meps so i can ship off to boot camp by noon

Well, I changed it b/c that's what has been taking up the spare time I have had in the last month or so. I didn't think about it until after I posted that you guys might not recognize the "fng"...

Now, Joe, back to your truck thread...

I'm sorta in "catch up mode" and may have missed it but are you planning to convert your current truck to 4wd or are you looking to buy another one and sell this one?

I like those doors on it. They look pretty good. I say stick with your rattle can idea for the time being, and make that sucker satin black!

Thanks John!
I'm not gonna rattle can it, I'm thinking I'll block it out and buy a gallon of satin black to shoot it....

Fix a few dings in those doors and get it all one color! Nice progress on it, didn't waste no time once you had all 4 doors I see. Now if someone would have just taken another 1/2 hour and chased wires instead of doing it the salvage yard way, sorry about that.

I thought you already had that rear gas tank installed? Guess I misread a few pages back. Coulda swore you did that when you did the notch and stuff.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Weren't no thang!

We left the wires from my doors plugged in under the dash and just pulled the wires out as we pulled the doors the pulled them in the new doors as we hung them, it was probably easier that way anyhow.

Yeah, Scott and I used what we had available back when we did the notches to mount the tank (modified the rear crossmember and used some angle to make a front one) and it didn't quite sit right, so when we bought our parts Burb I figured why not just cut the correct crossmembers out of it and make it look right?

It almost looks factory now....
I still need to build a hinge for my passenger tail light so I can hide the filler.

That hinged tail lamp will be killer. I want to see that done pretty bad. If it works good enough, might be something I try on my '74.

The tail light will be cool. I've seen it done on the 67-72 trucks, but not the squares. You can be a trend setter man!

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Well, I got the idea from the wife's favorite car, a 1956 Chevy 4-door wagon.
Did some looking on here and it seems N2TRUX beat me to the idea in a square with his (now sold) Blazer project....but it was never done...so....
maybe I will have some follow through.... you guys feel free to push me

If I was you, I would worry about getting the taillamp fuel filler done so Scott Farkis doesn't have to come over and rough you up.
