Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

Saw this auction on Ebay...states no rust.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...fCarsQ5fTrucks

Soooo I take a look at the pix - anybody see anything missing here - probably from the aux tanks...

Nice truck though.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

I'd say, all in all, not a bad looking little truck. Pretty easy to put the torsion boxes back in and someone would have a themselves a decent K5. Wonder what his reserve is...

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

Very nice Blazer imho..... I bought mine with Aux. tanks and it was solid as a rock. Replaced the boxes and removed the tanks and have never looked back. The boxes being cut seem to scare some but is it any worse than having them there but rusted? I think a solid truck with them removed is stronger than one with them but rusted boxes, rockers etc. Plus you can see what is behind them with them removed!! The truck listed is also a nice color and I would buy it and not think twice.....Bubba

Certainly looks good, really clean in all the right places.

Somebody on here needs to 'buy it & drive it'

I'm guessing his reserve is at least 10K though...

The add sounds like a salesman to me.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

This is an hour from my house and I have never seen it listed on craigslist before. Seems like I have seen this posted on the board with the boxes cut out. I have sent him a few questions. Seems there is overspray on the dented section on the rear lower qtr and the inside of the passenger side has a dent in an area someone took their shoulder to force the door open? Maybe the alignment is off from the torsion box missing? I am out of town on business and can not look at it until this weekend.

I think someone needs to buy it and do some rust stopping, before that surface rust turns it into just another one of are rust cursed Blazers.

If only this was closer. No mention of the aux tanks being available with it though.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

I'll agree it does look real solid in the rust department.. but it is a "plain jane" the poor thing does not have a single straight panel on it!! and a hole in the top.. the missing rocker boxes are no real big deal but I am somewhat leary as the poster lists it as having original paint and if you look closely you can see overspray on the K5 emblems and painted over dents and scratches..

John, I believe this is the one I sent you the email about. It was on CL for a few hours for a low price and then the listing was pulled. I'd guess the seller got so many inquiries they pull the listing and looked up the value. I thought the listing on CL said it was right by you in Sammamish.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

I would be leary of this one. It does look to be rust free, but it looks like it has been hammered pretty hard. Like Livrat says, there isn't a strait panel on it, not even the gas cap. Anyone who would say that it is thought to be original paint is plain hiding the fact that it has been repainted, using the words "believed to be" as a disclaimer. You can't do the kind of dammage to a truck that this one has without scratching the paint. I am not trying to trash the truck, because I believe it is a good contendor for restoration, however it is not what he is trying to make it out to be by a long shot. I would seriously wonder what was under the "believed to be original paint" that isn't showing. WES

If this is a "1 family owned" vehicle there should be no guessing on whether or not it was repainted.....

Good points WES. The white overspray on the turn signal lenses is an indicator of some repainting.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

I am trying to figure out what the heater hose is on the drivers side. It is T'd and goes to the drivers side. Maybe a rear reddot boat heater?

Chris, I remember know. I thought it looked familiar...

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

The heater hose in mine has a "T" with a recirculator/heater to keep the engine warm in the winter, but the hoses don't head back to the firewall.

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

Doesn't look like a "T" to me. It looks like a piece of copper pipe used because the lower hose was cut too short. WES

Re: Rust Free Blazer - Whoops - missing parts

I left him a message about the overspray and dents. Here is the response. I would like to own it at the price now. I still think it would be easier to add options to a rust free example, but as Livrat and I have discussed, there are some nice rigs out there under $10K.

"not every panel but there are dents.history as far as? where are you seeing the over spray so i can check it out? selling for my friends and they have owned it for about 5 years but its been in the family since 1972"

I think I will still be looking for a while.....Also, need to get the 72 Jimmy done with my brother in law so no projects for me.
