I spoke to may dad and talked to him about the places I had been looking at to find some rebuilt blocks. I got a phone number from a guy on this place for a shop in San Antonio. I called them up and asked how much for a 350 sbc. With a rebuildable block as a core exchange, I could get one for $331 minus tax. With a year/1200 mile warranty. It sounds like a good deal to me. My dad was excited for sure, he was like
"As soon as I get back from mexico, we are gonna get your truck running as soon as possible, that what is important right now."
So who know guys...I'll keep you posted...if I can get a 350 block with at least heads and oil pan...I may be in business.
Oh and I just got a new job for sure...I will be working soon. I didn't get financial aid for the summer, but I'll work and try to take summer two classes.
I hope and pray that things will go better than they have been.
What from my 307 will fit a 350???? I know I need another manifold, and exahust manifolds also. What else....???

actually the exhaust manifolds and intake manifold from the 307 will fit unless your just wanting to change them for some reason... everything except pistons, and i think crank and rods? will fit. the crank and rods might even be the same, but the crank wont be balanced right... would have to check on the rod length

Everything external on a small block chevy, will fit almost any other small block chevy. Old heads and vortec heads are the exception.

#1-SO I can run my 307 intake mainifold w/2barrel carb. How much difference is there in performance compard to a 4barrel. Is the 307 intake manifold open enough to work with the 350??
#2-Can I use the same distributor?? I know my 307 is from 68, but I don't know what year the 350 core is gonna be when I find one. The guy told me that they try to match years. Will the distributor work???

#3-Will I have to change my radiator???

#4-how much do rods, rockerarms and valve springs run???

#5-is there anything 350 specific that I will need??? engine mount pads, sparkplugs, what type of oil 10w30...40etc, oil filter, blah blah...
Man I'm excited...but we have yet to see!!!

a 2 bbl verses a 4 bbl is night and day. However, the one you have now will do fine to get you on the road.
All older small blocks can use the dist. you have now. Anything they instll will work with it.
Your rad will be fine...even if it is a 2 core.
Valve springs will be with the long block. The rockers and push rods can be had at a parts store for less than 100 I'm sure. (probably quite a bit less)
All the stuff you mentioned in #5 should swap...but on the plugs, get advice from the ppl selling you the motor, and read the plugs once you've driven it 1000 miles or so.

My 72 GMC's heads casting numbers are the same as a 68 307. Go figure, the only difference is that the 72 went to the peanut size plug vs. the older larger size. You shouldn't have too many problems installing your old parts onto the 350. Good luck to ya.
