McQuay-Norris Quality?

I've never used their parts but I can get them fairly cheap. Has anyone had experience with them? I can get them for half the price of Moog. Sound like a good value? I don't want to be putting garbage on my ride, especially suspension parts!

Gracias, in advance.

Much lower quality than Moog to go along with the lower price.

Re: McQuay-Norris Quality?

hmmm, I just ran across a thread where I got the following:

- MOOG is now made in Mexico, and TRW appears to be the same as MOOG (same parent company)
- McQuay-Norris is the same a Spicer, owned by the affina group who also owns Raybestos. Their suspension parts will be badged as Raybestos in the future. (linky)
- Cold Forged parts > Hot Forged

I know Spicer makes a good product. I have heard some discontent about MOOG recently. McQuay-Norris is cheap right now because O'Reillys is discontinuing their sale. I think I might give them a shot...

UPDATE: I compared the McQuay-Norris parts with Raybestos, and it seems that the MN "Extreme Duty" series is quality(ie exactly the same as Raybestos), whereas their normal parts are... not.

Here's a mapping of TRW to MOOG part #'s. I have found that TRW is easily 1/3 the price of MOOG right now. parts cross reference

Re: McQuay-Norris Quality?

Iva actually good luck w/ McQuay-Norris. We have alot of F-350s in our fleet and I will not use MOOG ball joint on the 4WDs. All too often theyre so tight they cause memory steer, never had that problem with the McQuay-Norris ones. Obvoiusly thats just one application but still something to think about.

Re: McQuay-Norris Quality?

I talked to my older brother yesterday (owns a car shop) and he reiterated that he does not use MOOG anymore. He said that spicer (=Raybestos PG) uses nylon internals which flex instead of deform on impact, whereas MOOG will wear more because it is all metal. Nylon probably creates a smoother ride, also.

I already bought TRW stuff for my truck(=MOOG) but I'll be replacing it with Raybestos PG. Raybestos is cheaper than MOOG but more expensive than most others. I'll go with McQuay-Norris only if I can verify that it's equivalent to Raybestos PG, not their service grade stuff.
