Local Truck
You never see this around here. This truck was parked along the street in summer`08 on the way to a home I did renovation on.I passed it everyday.Sometimes gone or parked around the corner. It`s row houses so who knows which one the owner lives in.I left a card,no call.I`ve been watching it and will soon leave anothercard with my "if and when" message.I want it bad. It`s got a V8/auto w/Genie ****er and that`s it,original otherwise.I want it so bad. That`s how I want them.I`d do it nostalgic style like late`50s-early`60s.I like it as it is,too. How I remember them growing up.Guys just put V8 power and trans and rolled with chrome reverses.
Whatcha think of it?

Re: Local Truck
I love it. Red Oxide Primer look. I'd say you better have a fat checkbook to buy that thing though.

Re: Local Truck
That is an OUTSTANDING truck.
From a SoCal perspective it's amazing to see it as an (apparently) daily driver in a place where there are hardcore winters. It's SO cool to see these truly early trucks when someone has just been driving it, servicing it all these decades later. I know of a similiar one here in SoCal...and its really a driver too...but not as impressive as a truck from Maryland. P.S. I should know the answer but what year is this? '38, '39, '40...I'm guessing. Last edited by Dan in Pasadena; 02-08-2010 at 05:12 PM. |

Re: Local Truck
Carpet fuzz on tongue.Dan,we (or the smart ones) can only daily drive 3 seasons. We can`t only have the one like you guys.I wish I could only have cool old stuff.I believe it`s a`38.We`ll all know the years better before long.I don`t see enough to be positve.I`m better with them all together.`37`s the last wood frame body and they have a flatter top with vertical fins.I believe the`38s have that scooped out with the headlight feature up the side of the grille.

Re: Local Truck
As I said on the other thread (in case it was missed), I think those of us with the older trucks or those of us with interest need to post links here when we find them so that the guys that are intersted won't think these trucks are unavailable.
If a moderator is listening in; it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a sticky on the Pre-'47 board just for that purpose. |

I'm thinking to post ads ONLY of mostly complete pre '47 trucks or the major component parts like original, early frames, cabs, beds, engines. Not single fenders or running boards. Those are important (obviously) but they're available via the aftermarket. If you've got the main components a lot of the guys here have the fabrication chops to make the rest! |

Re: Local Truck
Thanks,
I have the impression - maybe wrongly and especially wrongly for you guys in the heartland - that pre '47 trucks are thought of as "just too old" to be done in the same manner as the '47 and newer trucks. I say this because I didn't really want my '46 when it came up because I thought it was too old. As it turns out, I was right that there are a lot fewer reporoduction parts avaialbe for them but there are sstill plenty and a lot of the stuff made for the 47's and newer will work for these trucks. Anyway, a long-winded way of saying that if a lot of leads are posted here then maybe some guys who might not otherwise consider a project of this vintage will get some ideas...AND carry them out. |

Re: Local Truck
This style is one my want list. I have not been able to find a project that I can afford, maybe someday.
